New York City’s high stress levels are a chronic public health crisis. More than two years of grappling with COVID-19, alongside continuing unrest and instability in our neighborhoods and communities, has created a pandemic of trauma and toxic stress.

Hundreds of studies have proven meditation to be an effective means to prevent and significantly ameliorate stress and stress-related disorders.

From veterans grappling with PTSD, to healthcare workers on the frontlines of the pandemic to residents of neighborhoods plagued by gun violence, research and experience have shown that meditation can be a simple, effective, and scalable antidote to the stress pandemic.

Meditate New York will create a public-private partnership with the city government, business and community leaders, the David Lynch Foundation and other nonprofit organizations with expertise in teaching scientifically proven meditation techniques. Together, we will help to transform the city—healing trauma, building resilience, and promoting physical and mental well-being during these challenging times.
